But the alarm will trigger at the low alarm level, making the tank empty alarm redundant!!!!! The last thing you want on a trip out is a empty tank with all the refilling/bleeding involved.....just keep topping up when the low coolant triggers and get yourself home so you can sort it.

is a high level alarm on the list?
ie are we showing over pressure?
not always a dead head gasket

if you are already using an arduino
add in some ds18 to measure temps in various places (one wire uno no prob)
if you also want to measure V & A on a solar SB, LB system use a Mega
PM if required.

On the subject of low coolant alarms , I had a quick look at one a couple of weeks ago.it was a DIY type using a floating magnet in a open ended plastic tube inserted into the header tank with the floating magnet. Then a reed sensor switch mounted on the out side of the tank. I did not have much time to go into the nuts and bolts of the gadget but the guy said it cost a couple of quid to produce and was not affected by different types of antifreeze .

Good Luck.

Rita
now that's a neat idea and could also incorporate a high level alarm
